“The Right Type of Resilience”

We Filipinos are known because of our resiliency. Resilience means the capacity to recover quickly from problems or difficulties. The Philippines is very vulnerable to disasters, it is one of the natural hazard-prone countries in the world. The country is highly prone to natural disasters like earthquakes, tropical cyclones, floods, and volcanic eruptions. Destructions of agricultural products, houses, and government properties always happen after a disaster. But Filipinos will try to overcome this suffering and traumatic disaster experience, showing their resiliency.

In an article written by Pamela, she stated that “Every time, the Filipino nation has to endure, brave the chaos, and stand up the next day. It is from this that we’ve grown to be called a resilient nation. Because we have had to become one.” Being resilient is not a bad thing, but we tend to forget that we’re supposed to be striving for something more. What we need to do after experiencing calamities or problems is to demand accountability and transparency from the people in power. It is the governments responsibility to protect, help and serve the people of the Philippines. Let’s seek help and support from the government because that is what we deserve as the people of this nation.

Just like what I’ve said, being resilient is not bad, but what we need to do, is to address our problems and needs. We can make our country succeed, only if we all work together, Filipino citizens and the government to strive for our goals for this nation. From the same article written by Pamela, she stated that “When we all put in our best efforts to create a good system, solve the country’s problems, and make sure every Filipino is given the opportunity to live a secure life, then we are on the way to the right type of resilience.” Let’s all work together for the betterment of our beloved nation. Right type of resilience towards a more progressive nation.

"Education: A Right and Not a Privilege"

Many things has been change because of the COVID-19 pandemic that also causes the whole world to shut down. Last school year, schools here in the Philippines did not open and learning happened through online classes and distance learning. As a student, since it’s my first experience to do learning alone in a whole school year, I feel so exhausted and stressed during those times. There are times that I feel like I can’t continue studying anymore, that I can’t finish all my works in time and many more thoughts that made my energy down in the whole school year. I feel bad for myself because I did not adapt all the things that I need to learn that year because of the pressure I felt.          The new normal of learning is really hard for us students because not all of us can access internet or sometimes we have slow connection, and also lack of gadgets to use especially to those students who are expe...
