Ilaw ng Tahanan: Celebration of Mother's Love, Sacrifice and Care





        A mother is someone who is responsible in caring a child for months, she is the one taking care of the family members during days and night. A mother's love is unconditional, they sacrifice and offer everything just to make the family always happy and full of hope and positivity in daily life. She is someone who is working hard to make the family together, she cooks a meal for the family, she cleansed the house daily, she gives light and good advices to the house, she is respected as she show respect to each members of the family and she is someone that can be lean on when you have problems. Mother’s Day is a holiday in honour of mothers that is celebrated in countries throughout the world. In its modern form the holiday originated in the United States, where it is observed on the second Sunday in May.
        Mother's Day is an occasion which is celebrated in various parts of the world to express respect, honor, and love towards mothers. The day is an event to honor the contribution of mothers, acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our society. Although, different countries celebrate the occasion on different dates, the common months of the celebrations are March or May. Mother's Day is a similar effort like other celebrations like Father's Day, Siblings Day, Grandparents Day and others. It is a day which makes people remember the importance and significance of mothers in their life and is observed as a day to give special emphasis to the motherly figures around the world.

        This celebration is important as it shows appreciation and thankfulness to all great mothers around the world for their efforts, love and care just to make everyone in the family happy and bright. Despite the struggle of being a mother, they continue giving care, love and responsible to their role as a mother in the family.

Viva Vigan: Festival of the Arts

Viva Vigan Festival of the Arts is being celebrated every first week of May. It was started in 1993 by the Save Vigan Ancestral Homes Association, Inc. to promote awareness of the value of the historic town, which was hoped to strengthen resolve to preserve and protect this heritage site. It is a festival promoting the culture, arts and tradition of the Ilocano people living in the historic town of Vigan, and to the whole Ilocandia.  The festival starts on May 1, when the whole country celebrates Labor Day and Vigan remembers its own Isabelo de los Reyes, who founded the country’s first federation of labor.
