Haligi ng Tahanan: Keep the Love and Protection

“My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.”

–Clarence Budington Kelland, American writer (1881-1964), about his father

Father’s Day is celebrated annually on the third Sunday in June in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, India, and a number of other countries around the world. Father’s Day celebrates and honors the men who have embraced the essential role of fatherhood. On this day, we also thank fathers and father figures (uncles, grandfathers) for the sacrifices they make, for embracing the responsibility of nurturing and raising children, and for devotion to their family.

On Father’s Day many people make a special effort for their fathers or father figures. Some people visit their fathers, while others give cards, flowers or other gifts, such as clothing or sporting equipment, or luxury food items. Father's Day is a relatively modern holiday, so different families have different traditions. These can range from a simple phone call or greetings card to large parties honoring all father figures in an extended family. Father figures can include fathers, step-fathers, fathers-in-law, grandfathers, great-grandfathers and even other male relatives.

Maybe, a lot of us are not showy about our appreciation and feelings towards our father, especially with celebrations like this, but simply saying "thank you" and "I love you" is enough for them. Simple appreciation with their hard work for the family, being grateful for their protection and love. Let's naturally celebrate fathers day just like how we celebrate mothers day. Our fathers have work hard to keep the family in love and safe. Happy fathers day!!!

“The Right Type of Resilience”

We Filipinos are known because of our resiliency. Resilience means the capacity to recover quickly from problems or difficulties. The Philippines is very vulnerable to disasters, it is one of the natural hazard-prone countries in the world. The country is highly prone to natural disasters like earthquakes, tropical cyclones, floods, and volcanic eruptions. Destructions of agricultural products, houses, and government properties always happen after a disaster. But Filipinos will try to overcome this suffering and traumatic disaster experience, showing their resiliency.      In an article written by Pamela, she stated that “Every time, the Filipino nation has to endure, brave the chaos, and stand up the next day. It is from this that we’ve grown to be called a resilient nation. Because we have had to become one.” Being resilient is not a bad thing, but we tend to forget that we’re supposed to be striving for something more. What we need to do af...

“To Learn: Overcome and Try"

3 rd quarter is coming to end, time really moves so fast. One more quarter to finish and my Grade 10 journey will going to end already. Another learning experiences, challenges and discoveries.   The feeling that I have felt during the 3 rd quarter is just incomparable from the other quarter’s that had passed. I felt so pressured because there are too many task and works to do, there are times that the given task is not what I am good at doing. I’m so down reading the number of task given in every subjects, I’m so pressured, but I pushed myself despite the pressure and stress I am feeling. I conquer my pressure, I tried my best in doing every task given even though some of them are not what I am good at. I can still say that I did well during 3 rd quarter, despite the problems and emotional days that I had experienced.               Life is all about learning, and for you to learn more, you need to over...
