"Viva Vigan Fiesta in New Normal"


        The celebration of Vigan City Fiesta is held in honour of St. Paul the Apostle, the City's patron, has been a traditional doing of the City Government of Vigan and the bigueños every January 25, every year. Locals and tourists gather to experience and see the street dancing, carnivals, food fairs, and arts and crafts, adding to the attraction of this UNESCO World Heritage City.

        But due to the pandemic, the traditional way of celebrating Vigan City Fiesta has stopped and changed. Last year, the City Government and the bigueños celebrated it through online. Many contest/competition happened through online like street dancing family edition, longganisa cook contest and many more.

        The usual way of celebrating the fiesta has change due to the pandemic, but the essence and the pure message of the festival still remains the same.

    As a Bigueno, I believe that it is traditions and cultures like these that keep the fiesta spirit alive. Even in these difficult circumstances, we must remember to mark this milestone in tiny ways. And the spirit of the fiesta lives on in our warm hearts, not only those of Biguenos, but of Ilocandia as a whole!

Viva Vigan: Festival of the Arts

Viva Vigan Festival of the Arts is being celebrated every first week of May. It was started in 1993 by the Save Vigan Ancestral Homes Association, Inc. to promote awareness of the value of the historic town, which was hoped to strengthen resolve to preserve and protect this heritage site. It is a festival promoting the culture, arts and tradition of the Ilocano people living in the historic town of Vigan, and to the whole Ilocandia.  The festival starts on May 1, when the whole country celebrates Labor Day and Vigan remembers its own Isabelo de los Reyes, who founded the country’s first federation of labor. The catholic faithful also remembers on this day St. Joseph, patron saint of workers. “To Learn: Overcome and Try"

  3 rd quarter is coming to end, time really moves so fast. One more quarter to finish and my Grade 10 journey will going to end already. Another learning experiences, challenges and discoveries.   The feeling that I have felt during the 3 rd quarter is just incomparable from the other quarter’s that had passed. I felt so pressured because there are too many task and works to do, there are times that the given task is not what I am good at doing. I’m so down reading the number of task given in every subjects, I’m so pressured, but I pushed myself despite the pressure and stress I am feeling.
